This time we are driving about 100 kilometers to our next stop with the tuktuk!
Ayubowan Sigiriya! We are staying here in the most beautiful accommodation - an apartment in a tree, in the middle of a green oasis with pool! Absolutely beautiful!
Sigiriya is a historic rock fortress and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982.
However, we decide not to climb the Sigiriya rock, but rather the Pidurangala Rock, which is not far away - On the one hand, you have to pay much less admission here, and on the other hand, you have an incredible view of the Sigiriya rock!
In the beginning, the ascent is still quite easy, later you have to climb quite a bit..
But the difficult climb was more than worth it, the view is simply phenomenal!
And then it happens on the way down: Katha slips! Not paying attention, slippery rocks, talking, and the foot is broken!
My foot swells up within seconds and it is clear that something is broken from twisting it. But with a lot of support, I manage to get down the mountain and get some ointment and bandages at the small village hospital. X-ray doesn't work in this town, maybe later in Negombo!
The small village in the jungle is once again incredibly beautiful and relaxed. We are really sad that we have planned so little time and have to move on after 2 nights! Sigiriya has not seen the last of us!
Finally, we greet Katrin and Kevin from Hamburg and Berlin. It was a great trip with you - but next time please no injuries! Thank you so much for your help and see you soon for a beer in the Long Row ❤
