Day 30 - Ílhavo City, Gondolas & May Day Celebration

Ebimisami: 01.05.2019

Hey everyone!

Today we had originally planned to rent electric scooters with seats, so we drove the camper into the city. After driving around for a while, we actually found a gravel space where we could leave our little one. We walked with our phone as a navigation system, in search of the rental shop. However, when we arrived there, there was no sign of a rental station.... The shop has probably closed down.

There is a river flowing through the city, with various restaurants, small shops, and a lot of people. Music was playing and there were activities like "free hugs". We later found out that May 1st is also celebrated in Portugal, which we didn't know before :).

We strolled through the streets, enjoyed some soft ice cream, and watched the fish diving for bread that had fallen into the water.

The main attraction in the river were gondolas, just like in Venice. There was almost more traffic on the river than on the road, and no gondola was empty or even poorly occupied. The business seems to be thriving :).

Initially, we wanted to take a ride as well, but we decided to save that for when we're in the original: in Venice.

It was fun to get out and see a city.

In the evening, we drove back to our hotel and made ourselves comfortable on our balcony.

We quickly went to the Jacuzzi (yes, it was really well used!), then had dinner and afterwards I did my fingers and toe nails (three fingernails have already broken off...) while Kevin played a new game on his phone :).

We don't know exactly where we'll go tomorrow :)

Stay tuned ;)

See you tomorrow!
