Engumba monene koyoka Medellin

Ebimisami: 14.03.2022

Another two months gone by…

We have seen so much that we had to split it up into bite-sized pieces :D since we're in the mood for sorting pictures (who enjoys sorting vacation pictures, really?!)

Always happy to do it for you!

We went from the Caribbean up north to the Peruvian and Brazilian border…

So, where did we go after Cartagena?

Medellin!! A hipster city with a high, almost European quality of life. One of the most popular cities among travelers...

We celebrated New Year's Eve here, with salsa on the street...

Unfortunately, there was no fireworks here either.
Counting money, 1€ = 4500Pesos. Thousands!! Pesos on the table, but only worth a few euros :)
Another great evening with new friends

What else did we see?

We did a Graffiti + Commune 13 Freewalking Tour (recommended by a friend, otherwise we always walk everywhere ourselves) in the former drug smuggling neighborhood Comuna 13...

We learned salsa steps, history and culture, tried cheese ice cream, listened to spontaneous street rap, and admired great graffiti. Using escalators!! Riding up through the neighborhood.

Museum casa de la Memoria
History about drugs, gang wars, and the losses/dangers during that time ('90/2000). The slow recovery and life afterwards. It helps us understand why they often have to live from one day to the next...because that was the only way for a long time.

We also admired salsa on the street, took a cable car ride, and found the soft artwork from Bogota again :)

Sturdy construction?!

Excursion to Guatapé

A big rock with a beautiful lake landscape around it. And a small town with unique paneled facades. Its lovely color scheme is repeated on balconies and undersides of roofs.

This is what the landscape looks like from the big stone...

A dream!

Afterwards, we went to the coffee district, finalizing sorting the pictures ;)

Greetings from us!
