Today, after three beautiful days in the mountains of Boquete, it was travel day again.
Departure from the B&B
We opted for the public bus instead of the $30 tourist taxi, which saves some time but costs twice as much and is somehow uncool.
We went from Boquete to David. On the bus, we ran into the family from Basel again, who had the same destination for the day. Once we arrived, we went straight to Almirante.
The ride took us through the mountains and across the national park. Unfortunately, we had little time to enjoy the view because the route was very steep and winding, and the driver had no time to spare. Furthermore, a passenger had obviously packed a puppy in a crate, which kept whimpering. It was probably scared or simply thirsty. But dogs don't have a high value here. Maybe the guy was just an ass or dumb. In any case, a sad experience.
From Almirante, we then took a boat to Bocas. By now, we had definitely arrived in the Caribbean, just as you know it from photos.
The taxi took us from the bustling city to the hostel, which is located directly on the beach outside the city. Here at Bluff Beach, giant turtles give birth to their young, as indicated by large signs. The hostel also places great emphasis on ecology and generates its own power. Otherwise, the description 'beautiful' probably fits it best.
In the evening, we treat ourselves to a great cocktail and a little walk on the beach. The turtles only come out at night, so the beach is off-limits then 🐢
PS: The hostel has a dog and a cat. Susi is happy 🐕🐈
