Montevideo - Light and Colors

Ebimisami: 14.10.2018

This city fascinates me: a very pleasant climate, sunshine, a special light, clear air and therefore great colors. But where there is light, there is also shadow. Somehow, this capital city is different from all the others I know - and there are quite a few. A wide street axis runs straight through the ridge of the hill. If you walk along it, you will go from one beautiful square to another. Large plane trees provide shade, fountains, benches to linger and free wifi. It's not all about commerce and bustle. You can relax and watch - and enjoy! The hustle and bustle is concentrated in one corner: around and inside the former fish market hall - there are numerous restaurants and bars under one roof - above you can see the smoke rising from the grill kitchens - inside there is culinary diversity. Around the corner is a carnival museum of its own, because the carnival here is totally different from that in Brazil or on the German Rhine. Strange costumes, special music - rhythmic and with polyphonic singing, along with the most colorful fantasy costumes. The masks remind me a bit of Venice. I really enjoyed it here, so I'm staying a bit longer.
