San Miguel de Allende and Queretaro - Day 13

Ebimisami: 23.04.2022

Today, I set off towards San Miguel de Allende early in the morning. The drive this time took me through hilly landscapes that reminded me of Tuscany. I made the first stop in Dolores Hidalgo, a historic small town where Miguel Hidalgo proclaimed the war for Mexico's independence from Spain in 1810.

The second stop was at the pilgrimage church of Atotonilco. It is a church adorned with truly magnificent frescoes.

Then, I arrived in San Miguel de Allende around noon. The city is characterized by the colors orange, red, and yellow and it is bursting with tourists.

In the late afternoon, I finally arrived in Queretaro and checked into my room at Casa de la Marquesa. It is a historic hotel with rooms designed in various styles. I'm sure I won't be getting any unwelcome visitors tonight... Queretaro is a busy city with many beautiful squares. I had dinner at one of them before returning to the hotel. Tomorrow morning, I will drive back to Mexico City from where I will fly to Cancun.
