- Koh Samui -

Ebimisami: 18.08.2016

After our stay in Koh Phangan, we were already expected here on this slightly larger neighboring island by an Austrian acquaintance.

After such a long time, it felt good to speak our dialect again with someone and enjoy Austrian food and music from home.

During our time here, we saw almost all the sights.

We drove through the beautiful quiet forests to the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks where we enjoyed a good coconut ice cream. We also visited a temple where a monk once settled and still sits there to this day. However, he is now dead and allegedly mummified himself. When visiting a waterfall, we had the fortunate opportunity to see a mother elephant with her baby elephant. On the way back, we made a short stop at a small cute cottage where we tasted handcrafted delicious chocolate and also took two bars to snack on.

Before we were expected for dinner, we went to a rum distillery and tasted rum and orange rum there as instructed. The best part of it all followed. We visited an acquaintance who had prepared roast pork with sauce and bread dumplings for us. There was also a good salad with pumpkin seed oil and spritzed cider. It was really a dream.

After being fortified, we then visited a market and Butterfly Hill.

When we drove to the golf course of Koh Samui, it was as if we were diving into another country. Past well-kept lawns up to a hill from which we enjoyed the beautiful view.

We definitely had to see the Big Buddha as well as some other magnificent temples.

We were also able to spend several hours on a ship and sail through the Gulf of Thailand.

During our time here, we were also spoiled with good Thai food and I had the opportunity to cook together more often and learn a lot.

Unfortunately, we are also familiar with the hospital in Koh Samui as we had to treat some infected mosquito bites that we had picked up.

Nevertheless, we were able to enjoy the time, make some plans for the coming months, and meet many nice people.
