Percé, Matane, Rivière-du-Loup

On Monday, I went to Percé. Percé was located on the east coast of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and was famous for Percé Rock. The town was buzzing with tourists. There were motels, restaurants, and souvenir boutiques everywhere. I first went to Cap Mont Joli to take a photo of Percé Rock. There was a $1 fee to go up there, but it was worth it. The platform was small, so there weren't too many people, and I had enough time to take my photo and enjoy the view. After that, I walked along the beach and found a shaded spot to sit and watch the tourist hustle and bustle. When I had seen enough, I headed back to my accommodation.

On Tuesday, I went in the opposite direction, towards the west. I drove to Matane to visit the Jardin de Doris. It was a beautiful garden, and even though it wasn't very big, I spent a long time there. Since there wasn't much else to see in Matane, I started heading back. I made a stop at the Matane River, at a beautiful spot that caught my eye on the way there. I took off my shoes and walked through the ice-cold water. There must have been a lot of fish in that river because I saw some fishermen casting their lines from the shore. However, I didn't see any fish, probably because I was in shallow water and too close to the shore. Back at my accommodation, I made a campfire. I roasted some small sausages and cooked a portion of potatoes with cheese in the fire. It was very cozy, and I sat by the fire for a long time.

On Wednesday, I continued towards Québec City. I drove through Rivière-du-Loup again, where I had arrived by ferry on Sunday. Since I had arrived later than planned, I had driven straight through. But now I had time to visit Parc des Chutes. This park was in the middle of the city, but as soon as I started walking in the forest, I didn't hear any city noise. The Rivière-du-Loup flowed through the park, and there was a hydroelectric power station at the large waterfall. The park was nothing special, but I was grateful for the short break from driving. After that, I continued along the St. Lawrence River, but this time on the east side. It was much more pleasant to drive. The terrain was flat, and I didn't have to go up and down steep hills. I arrived at my accommodation just before rush hour and had a cozy evening.
