Tag 63 - Diving in the Great Barrier Reef

In the morning, we wake up early and take the ferry to Magnetic Island. The island is known for its amazing coral reefs, which can also be seen with snorkeling gear. I have planned two dives and Dennis will snorkel at the beach and search for wallabies. The dives are really great and I even see a turtle. In the afternoon, we unfortunately have to leave the island and drive about 350 km to Cairns. Tomorrow our flight back to Melbourne leaves from there. We are on the road for over 4.5 hours by car, as there are again some construction sites and construction sites in Australia usually have only one lane, meaning we wait countless times at red traffic lights until the oncoming traffic has passed through the construction site.

Finally arrived in Cairns, we want to visit the Night Markets. Unfortunately, most of the shops are already closed, but there is a massage studio that is still open. We have our neck and shoulders massaged after the long car ride.

We walk through the Shields & Esplanade area and along the promenade by the Pacific Ocean. there we also discover the Esplanade Lagoon, a large pool area in the middle of Cairns. We fall into bed satisfied and are already a little melancholy because we will be flying home in two days.
