After a nice breakfast and coffee with a view, we drove straight to the Rainbow Falls in Kerikeri due to the weather forecast. We were the only ones there and had plenty of time to take pictures with the tripod.
Then we drove a little bit back to Paihia. The small harbor town didn't have much to offer and so we took the ferry across the Bay of Islands to Russell. On the ferry we realized that we had forgotten the diaper bag - so we immediately bought new diapers. Lesson learned haha. Then we had fish and chips for everyone at the small harbor and we walked with the buggy to Flagstaff Hill. Once at the top, E slept and we took turns walking the last steps to the viewpoint.
Then we took the ferry back comfortably. Oh yeah, the Russell Swing on the beach that I saw on Insta was nothing :D
Back in Paihia we drove on to Matauri Bay. Refueled every now and then, the first refueling is always difficult with the self-refueling system here. And then we went down a winding coastal road to our holiday park. We had a place right on the beach. E had a blast on the waves. In the evening we went up to a small viewpoint over the entire bay. Steep but short - why are all the beautiful views from above?
In the evening we had the free sandwiches from yesterday and then we were all tired again.
