Friday 14.12.
In the morning, it was the last time waking up in Samford. I freshened up again, enjoyed the luxury of a warm shower, and then headed to Brisbane. Duncan, the guy I worked for, didn't have any more work for me, so I continued my journey a little further south. I found a nice rest area near Beenleigh and spent a nice afternoon there as well. So I'm sitting comfortably in the chair when suddenly a girl approached me and complimented my 'nice car'. It turned out she's also a traveler and has the same car, a white Nissan Pathfinder named Winterfell.
Natascha Elbert is also from Germany and we got along very well. In the evening, I suggested cooking together and she cooked camping-style with me for the first time. Very delicious rice dish. After dark, we both wanted to go scavenging for containers and set off. But we didn't get far because we ran into a group of men around the corner of the shopping center. They offered us coffee and food portions, which was very tempting at first. However, it turned out that they were the 'Fishers of men', a Baptist, almost sect-like group, who wanted to pray with us and bring us closer to their faith. We listened very attentively (in one ear, out the other) and after over 1.5 hours, we were able to go back to our cars.
Positive about the experience: Free New Testament, 3 free food portions for each of us, free coffee.
Negative: 1.5 hours of listening, they deprived me of my first scavenging experience.
Saturday 15.12.
Natscha and I had a very appetizing breakfast together, my first fried eggs in Australia after three months. We then decided to drive together to Mount Tamborine, which is not far from Beenleigh and our campsite. We drove together in her car and after a bit of hiking, we saw a fantastically beautiful watercourse and swimming holes.
Of course, I had to jump from the top and meanwhile chatted with some crazy teenagers.
It was a really pleasant afternoon with cool water and the sun on our skin. In the evening, we cooked together once again and went to sleep.
