Finally, a proper round of driving!
- We rented our 'Chlapf' for something, so I was really looking forward to this round tour. Driving on gravel and dirt roads through beautiful forests and mountain landscapes. What more could a lazy and slow tourist want!
- Especially in this region, the Araucanía (strange trees, probably a successful crossbreed between palm trees and fir trees :-P) are the highlights.
- On this round tour, we primarily stayed in cabins, cozy wooden huts with everything you need: barbecue area.
- This region is also colloquially known as the Chilean Switzerland. We can definitely confirm that, because we feel very comfortable here. Beautiful mountains, forests, delicious cheese, good bakeries, etc.
- Pucon is the 'St. Moritz' of South America. It has boutiques, restaurants, bars, tour agencies, etc. The upper middle class and the upper class of Chile meet here in both summer and winter. In summer, hiking, kayaking, hydroboarding (we did that, quite amusing, going down a wild river on a bodyboard :-D) and mountain biking are popular, and in winter, skiing is the thing to do.
- We have to be in Puerto Montt by January 18th at the latest. On the one hand, we have to return our 'Chlapf' and check in for the ferry to Puerto Natales. We're excited!
Btw: Without even realizing it, we have now arrived in Patagonia, albeit in the very north...
