Around 11 o'clock, I made my way to the airport in Christchurch, not because I had to fly, but because that was the meeting point for the whole group. Since I wanted to meet up with two friends at the airport beforehand, I arrived two hours earlier than needed. After a short catch-up, which quickly passed, our whole group, consisting of about 35 people, gathered and took the buses to our first hotel, the Top 10 Holiday Park in Christchurch. The rooms were assigned by the leaders for the first night, and we could choose our own for the remaining nights. I shared a room that night with Simon and Paul. Even before dinner, I got to know some new people, and when we had a little introduction round after dinner and were assigned a buddy, I could even remember a few names already. Compared to the other nights, we went to bed relatively early on the first evening.
