We start our last day of vacation and meet Matt, the son of Nicki and Francis, who lives in Auckland and coincidentally lives just 2 streets away from our tiny house. The neighborhood is very trendy and he gets homesick as we walk through the streets. We have breakfast together. Pretty cool here and there's even a small coffee roastery. We had never seen each other before and yet we chat for almost 3 hours. We take an UBER back because it's raining.
Good for a little lunch break.
Actually, it clears up again and around 2AM we set off to explore Auckland further. We still have to get a birthday present and we find it at the Champions Store on Queens Street. After that, we stroll to the waterfront, which we didn't manage to do yesterday. And that's good. There's a lot to see and still many construction sites. The America's Cup will take place in New Zealand in 2022 and everyone is excited, even our Indian taxi driver.
There are magnificent sailboats and flashy yachts in the harbor. And there's a great place to relax and watch people - of course with the skyline and the lifting bridge!!!!! Since it's too late for the hop-on-hop-off bus rides - they only run until 5pm - we continue with E-scooters.
Also great!!!!
We go to the Art Gallery, which is built of stone, glass and kauri wood. I think it's great, Reinhard says it's ok! Then we take another round through Albert Park and then drive back to the waterfront. In Wynyard Quarter, we enjoy a glass of delicious wine and some chips, and we're feeling quite farewellish.
But it's not easy to say goodbye to New Zealand either!!!!
