Cinque Terre: Monterosso and Vernazza, 25.9.2019

Ebimisami: 31.10.2019

Cinque Terre consists of five picturesque villages on the Ligurian Riviera. Previously reachable only on foot or by sea, today the easiest way to reach the individual villages is by train.

Monterosso

The northernmost village is the largest town in Cinque Terre. In the old part of town, you will find the typical narrow and colorful houses and narrow streets. In the modern part, most of the hotels and the only large sandy beach in Cinque Terre are located. Here, the various hiking trails along the coast or through the Cinque Terre National Park begin.

Hiking

It is about 4km to the next village. The path first climbs steeply and leads through the terraces that were built in earlier centuries to cultivate wine and vegetables. Although mostly in the shade, it was quite tiring. But the view compensated us for all the effort. Suddenly, the view opened up to the next little town of Vernazza 😍 with its picturesque harbor. Quickly take out the camera and take a photo. But we were not the only ones and had to wait to take our turn... 📸😊

Vernazza

The path slowly descended again and soon we were caught up in the bustling tourist crowd. Many colorful fishing boats were moored at the small harbor and occasionally, you could see someone swimming in the sea. On the piazza, we found an empty table and ordered a pizza. But oh shock, a small frozen pizza came for 14€! We fell into the tourist trap. 🤭

We then took the train back to Levanto.

Levanto

In Levanto, Berni went on a short kayak tour, while I relaxed in front of the van. Afterwards, we went back to the town. We got some gelato, sat down on the beach, and watched the sunset. Absolutely dreamy...! 🍦🌅😍
