After a day's layover in Madrid (missed connecting flight), we finally arrived in Lima! With the cool, humid climate that characterizes Lima in winter, we are shivering. The coastal city is wrapped in its cloak of clouds.
In Barranco, we are surrounded by trendy cafes, excellent restaurants, and street art. It's perfect for vegetarians - otherwise, meat or fish generally fills the plate here. The district of Miraflores is even larger and more upscale. It could be from the vibe of California. It's quite astonishing; this stark Peruvian Andean life has nothing to do with it at all.
We then also took the bus to the center! The most interesting part was the Convento de San Francisco, an old monastery where we could explore part of the catacombs. Not for the faint-hearted - real bones were on display everywhere.
The Mercado Central with Chinatown was great too, especially the street food 😋
