Today we had a very special day.
Finally, we were able to get closer to the biggest residents of Thailand. They weigh about two to three tons and consume about 250 kilograms of food every day.
The Asian elephant is the second largest land mammal and two Swiss people have founded a great organization to provide abused elephants with a new home. In the Green Elephant Sanctuary Park, they live in a jungle landscape without chains, beatings, and riding.
There are a total of four adult elephants and two young ones living in this park.
The typical tourist elephant riding is extremely harmful to their health because their backs and spines are not designed for it. Furthermore, they are not kept and tortured in a species-appropriate manner.
But now to the beautiful part. Today, we were allowed to visit the elephants in the jungle, feed them, take a mud bath with them and rub them properly, take a bath in clear water, shower with them and scrub them clean.
