NASA Center in Huntsville

Ebimisami: 28.03.2017

For today, we chose Tupelo in Mississippi as the destination. On the way to Memphis, a stop in the birthplace of Elvis Presley was possible here.

However, before that, we visited the NASA Center in Huntsville. In this museum, you can learn pretty much everything about rockets and space travel. One of the important co-founders was the German Wernher von Braun, who had developed the V2 rocket for Hitler during World War II. Apparently, the Americans didn't care about that after the war, as he had useful knowledge.

We spent several hours here. Everything was very well explained and even the many school children seemed to have fun. Steffi got her money's worth when she used 2 simulators that reflected situations for astronauts. She was shot up once and another time she spun around pretty fast, like in a centrifuge.

After about 3 hours in glorious sunshine, we drove through Decatur, where we were served a world-champion BBQ, and continued on to Tupelo, where we arrived in the evening.
