The morning starts hectically, as it almost always does. Asma and Lissi have slept for at least 3 hours. Since Scholle just couldn't get to sleep, she slept even less. After watching a few episodes of children's series (Tabaluga, Bob the Builder, etc.) she dragged herself over to the other room.
No wonder she doesn't hear the alarm at all, just like Marius, who is still snoring loudly. Luckily, Lissi and Asma manage to get up when the alarm goes off for the second time and wake the others. The laundry isn't completely dry yet, of course, but it's no use: we have to pack our things and go! 30 minutes later than planned (always the same), we look for a taxi and drive towards the harbor. When we get to the boats, we get a coffee, as we still have 15 minutes before we leave the harbor. Asma and Scholle are pretty restless and Lissi has to laugh to herself. They think we've been called out and pour away their full coffee. But no luck... we have to wait again - Asma and Scholle without coffee :D
We have to sit at the very back of the boat. Lissi gets the worst seat and gets water splashed in her face the whole way. She's awake now at the latest :D
When we arrive at the hostel on the island, all the stress is quickly forgotten. We have landed in paradise!
While sipping our welcome cocktails, we meet Betge from Holland and hear about a beach party in the evening. Exactly what we were looking for. Scholle and Lissi take a little power nap while Asma and Marius are already making the most of the beach and the sea. Marius stupidly steps on a sea urchin and has to be treated first, and Asma loses her sunglasses and straps in the sea. But they don't let that get them down. At around four, the whole group sets off for another beach. Asma, who is leading our group this time, unfortunately doesn't lead us to our desired destination. But we find a nice alternative at another hostel and are accompanied by two dogs. They are super playful and accidentally scratch us while romping. Hopefully we don't get rabies or even canine AIDS.
After dinner, we have a cocktail to give us energy before heading to the beach party. The location is simply beautiful, but for some reason no one is dancing yet and the atmosphere is pretty subdued. We are already considering leaving when we notice that a DJ booth is being set up and the party is just beginning :D
Tada and suddenly the whole thing is fun. We drink cocktails and dance to reggaeton and salsa music - or at least try to. Unfortunately there are power outages on the island all the time and the music keeps stopping. No matter, then we have breaks. Marius is doing really well, even without alcohol. Asma's fan turns out to be a socializer and we start talking to Colombians who live in Spain. When they try to talk to us, unfortunately we only understand Spanish again. Word play. Hehe.
Work ends at 3. We chill for a while on the beach and in the hammock in front of our nice room with air conditioning and then fall into bed together, cuddling.
We start the next day with a delicious iced coffee with coconut milk, which is brought to us at the pool 😎.
We relax in the hostel and later lie on the beach. Asma and Lissi get massages and we read to each other. That's the way to live! When it gets dark, we get into kayaks and go around the island under a beautiful full moon. Scholle and Marius are real pros and Asma and Lissi try hard, but mess things up the whole time, so that the girls who meet us are surprised that we are already so old... Oops😅 We then all end the evening together and play card games.
The next morning we want to go on a snorkeling tour. Unfortunately the guide gave us the wrong time. So we miss the start and have to postpone the whole thing until tomorrow. In retrospect, this was actually quite a positive. We decide to go to a dream beach and treat ourselves to a four-poster bed with a sea view. Pretty expensive, but definitely worth it. We buy diving goggles and before we learn a few Colombian dance steps. After sunset we go back to the hostel. There is an all-you-can-eat BBQ there today. Somehow it takes forever for us to get our food and our mood drops rapidly for a moment. We don't really feel like having the free cocktails. Anyway, after the meal everyone feels better and we just leave the drinks un-Swabian. We definitely don't want to miss the snorkeling tomorrow.
This time we make it. Much later than announced, Asma, Marius and Lissi climb into a small boat and head out to sea. At the first stop, the guide asks if we can all swim or if we need a life jacket. Then we jump into the deep water. It's somehow scary in the middle of the sea and Asma has a small panic attack. Pretty understandable - but we quickly get it under control and start snorkeling. We see beautiful big fish and are a bit shocked at how many corals are already dead. After that, things get exciting again. We can dive to a sunken plane. The guide attaches a rope to the wing and Marius and Lissi dive 6-7 m down. The pressure equalization is not that easy, but it is definitely a lot of fun. Maybe we should practice it and do it more often.
When we get back to the island, Scholle is already waiting for us on the beach. We can read a little before we head back to Cartagena by boat.
