After a relaxed night and a good breakfast, we stretch our legs a bit in Erding, with high summer temperatures and bright sunshine. A nice village of 40,000 souls - too bad we didn't manage to have a beer there yesterday. Maybe we would have learned something about the Swedish Games (drama about the conquest and plundering of the city of Erding in 1632). Instead, we simply overslept the Swedish attack. The taxi picks us up at the airport at 12 o'clock sharp. Checking in the luggage at the machine was quick and smooth, as was the security check. After half a liter of beer, entering the duty-free shops for water, cream and perfume samples, buying 2 face masks, 2 bottles of water, and a 360g Toblerone with oranges, we arrive at the gate around 2:30 p.m. - boarding at 2:50 p.m., scheduled departure at 3:35 p.m.
At 5:47 p.m., we are on the runway.
In a clean plane (which is why there was a 2-hour delay - no personnel to clean and missed the slot) and off we go. Meanwhile, the sky has turned dark.
The takeoff is smooth, the flight is calm except for a few small turbulences. And believe it or not, we flew to Munich yesterday just to fly to Vancouver via Hanover today. They could have picked us up in Hanover as well.
Now we are still 8380 km and 9 hours of flight away from our holiday. Even though Edmund claims it would already start at Munich Airport.
At 5:59 p.m. local time, the wheels touch down on the runway at Vancouver Airport.
Before picking up the obligatory luggage, we have to go through passport and immigration control. Sometimes one wonders why it is offered to do this online and then still has to do it again at the terminal. With the suitcases, we take the Skytrain
and whoosh, after a 22-minute ride and a 10-minute uphill walk, we are finally at the hotel.
At around 9:15 p.m., after a shower and a mini nap, we set off to find something to eat. Not so easy, because most of the restaurants close at 9:30/10:00 p.m. After about 1 hour of searching, we eat, frustrated and totally exhausted, in the sports bar next to our hotel 😂. Quickly booked the driver for tomorrow via Lyft.
Then it's time to say good night!
