Cuba - Varadero

Ebimisami: 15.05.2017

Last stop of our trip and unfortunately without our Jimny. We had to return it with a heavy heart in Havana...

Varadero has nothing to do with the real Cuba. There are plenty of hotels and when you drive into the city, one souvenir stand after another. But yes, it's also okay, we came here to enjoy the last days on the beach with a nice cocktail ;)

After a few days, we were starting to get bored. I just can't hang out in the hotel all the time. So we went to our tour guide and asked about nice tours :)

We decided to take a tour where they show you the production of rum and you can visit a locomotive museum, among other things.

Okay, the fact that you get 2 bottles of rum as a gift in the end also spoke in favor of it :D

First, we went to a farm where you could see the sugar cane fields and watch how it's harvested. If you wanted, you could even try a piece of it. But yeah, don't chew and swallow it. Why? I have no idea, but I better stick to it :D

Afterwards, we went to the mentioned museum and the rum production. It was really nice, but the ride with one of the locomotives was my absolute highlight of the day. I think it was the same for the people who live by the tracks. There were always people waving at us, really nice :) The final stop was an old train station, which is apparently inhabited now. Just arrived, there were little children begging for money...When we got on our bus, a little girl from our group took her sweets and said we should give it to the children...Children never cease to amaze me, we could learn a lot from them :)

Now I also had to say goodbye to my companion, because for me it was off to the Dominican Republic ❤
