Bari - 17th - 19th April

Ebimisami: 18.04.2019

The accommodation is located in the middle of the old town, right next to the Cathedral of San Sabino, the church of the archbishop. Yesterday the Easter celebrations began. A host of gentlemen dressed in white robes made a pilgrimage past our bar. The air was filled with incense, everything seemed very joyful. The archbishop blessed us - it is said to help even if you don't believe in it.

We spent the rest of the day cycling. We visited all the beaches (there are only two, one to the north and the other to the south of Bari). The impression: You would have to pay me a lot of money to spend my beach vacation here!

In the evening and especially at night, there was a big party in the streets and squares. The Italians take Jesus' invitation to his disciples to spend the night watching with him in the Garden of Gethsemane very seriously, but sweeten the waiting time with plenty of food and drink, at a volume that makes a jackhammer sound like a whisper. In any case, 'Pura Vita'.

Conclusion: Bari is worth a visit, but only for two days. That's why we're now taking the train to Polignano al Mare.
