Galway - Weekly Update 1

Ebimisami: 17.10.2016

17.10.2016:

Last week was a typical school week, except on Friday evening I fulfilled my duties and babysat for the second time this month. That took care of my obligations for the rest of the month.

On Saturday, I woke up relatively early and made my way to the city. There I met up with my friend Alena and we made our way to Heuston Station. From there, our train to Galway departed shortly after 10. After a 3-hour train ride, we arrived in Galway, located in the west of Ireland, not far from the 'Cliffs of Moher' on the Atlantic coast. The weather there was really beautiful, which we could appreciate even more after the constant rain in Dublin.

Galway has a really beautiful seaside area, and there were even seals swimming in the harbor (unfortunately, they were difficult to photograph). The town also has a nice pedestrian zone and a small market where you can find all sorts of things. It's easy to navigate because the city center is quite compact.

After eating Japanese noodles at an Asian restaurant, we made our way back home. Unfortunately, the train back took longer than expected, and we were greeted with constant rain in Dublin again. That's why I was very happy to finally be back home and able to rest my legs.

On Sunday, we decided to abandon our plan of going swimming because we were still too tired. Instead, we went to Phoenix Park, where the Dublin Zoo is located. However, we only walked around a bit and unfortunately didn't see the tame deer that live there, but it's definitely a reason to come back (also because the park is really beautiful).

In the evening, we went to the cinema and watched the recording of the musical 'Miss Saigon', which was recorded in 2014 for its 25th anniversary and had a one-time showing here on Sunday. I was really impressed with the story, the music, and the cast!

Plans for next weekend are already set...
