Magnificent views

At 5:30 a.m. I set off on the long march that would take me to the 12 apostles at sunrise. It quickly became clear that it was going to be strenuous; soft dune sand doesn't work well. Lined with tall bushes and small trees, a narrow path led, seemingly towards the sea, but also seemingly away from the 12 Apostles. Google Maps was of no help as I had no network.

A gray kangaroo finally demoralized me. It came out of the bushes right next to me. Bigger than me.
I briefly went over my self-defense skills in case it attacked. I ended up with zero in terms of my skills and stayed calm, hoping I didn't feel like stress. Bingo. It skipped along, bored.

That was the point at which I decided to do like the countless other tourists and to drive to the viewpoints.

So I waited for the sunrise at the Gibson Steps. It was cold, windy and rainy. Certainly nice on a nice day, but I could have saved myself the spot if I had known that there were still some wonderful views waiting for me on the Great Ocean Road that day.

We continued via Port Campbell and Lock.
