DAY 7: Abu Dhabi
Visited highlights: Masdar City, Corniche, Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi / F1 track
Before we head to the Corniche today, we make a detour to Masdar City, the university (Masdar Institute of Science & Technology). There, you can ride for free in fully automated 'pods' (a type of car) through the university's underground area. Of course, we don't want to miss out on the fun!
We take Pod No.3
At a rapid pace, after being greeted by the fully automated car, we go through the university's underground area to the next stop. Everything is fully automated - very funny!
We take a quick look at the university stop, then ride back with the pod.
We have to wait for the other pod to leave the parking space before we can park.
Alright, now we're hot - so off to the beach!!!
We decide to go to the bistro on the beach again and then go back to the family beach.
Today, we even manage to get loungers in the first row at the beach.
While our daughter and husband enjoy water sports (banana boat, jet ski, tube, etc.), I splash around with our son in the 'big bathtub'.
In the evening, the sailing school is on the water
We are almost the last ones on the beach today. And our son is completely exhausted from the 'relax day' at the sea.
Since today is our last evening, we want to visit the Formula 1 track and the Yas Viceroy Hotel. What's special about it is that the hotel's roof is adorned with thousands of lights that shine in different colors.
Actually, we want to have a farewell drink at the Skylite Bar on the hotel's roof, but since we have the children with us, we are not even allowed to enter the bar (at least not with the children). The locals don't mess around - no children and people under 21 years of age are allowed here.
We split up and I, armed with the camera, quickly take a look into the Skylite Bar while my relatives wait outside with the children and take a look at the F1 track from above.
The fountain in front of the hotel changes color every minute
We then move our farewell drink to the villa. With today's +30 degrees Celsius in the evening at 10 p.m., we sit together until midnight and let the last day of our vacation fade away before we quickly pack our suitcases tonight...
Our plane leaves for home tomorrow morning. We have experienced a lot, but the week went by too fast....
