Camptour 4th Part: from Kelowna to Osoyoos

Ebimisami: 13.05.2018

From Kelowna, we headed towards the American border to Osoyoos. Just north of Osoyoos is Canada's only desert, although it is only about 100 hectares in size.

The road passes through the Okanagan Valley, along the Okanagan Lake, for a long time, a beautiful route with a great view of the water. The Okanagan Valley is a well-known fruit and wine growing region. Unfortunately, we came here outside of the season, so the fruit trees were just starting to bloom and did not yet bear any fruit. As far as the eye can see, you can see all kinds of fruit trees, from cherries to apricots and peaches to apples. In between, there are vineyards. On the roadside, we could see fruit stands every few meters, unfortunately all closed at this time of the year.

The further we got towards Osoyoos, the drier the landscape became. It increasingly resembled a desert landscape. With a water temperature of 24 degrees, Osoyoos Lake is one of the warmest lakes in the country.
