On the way from Balti to Chisinau, we made a detour to Orheiul Vechi. The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age and is the only nominated cultural heritage site in Moldova. The Orthodox cave monastery, founded in the 17th century, is still inhabited by a monk today. The atmosphere in the cave was indescribable. Women must cover their hair with a headscarf, which you can borrow. Afterwards, we had a very nice meal at a restaurant. It's always fascinating, the road can be so bad and rocky, but in the end there's often a beautifully developed restaurant or hotel waiting.
For a good meal for 2 people with appetizers, main course, dessert and drinks, you pay around 300 lei. That's less than 15 €.
Now we are in Chisinau. We will stay here for several days, relax and explore the city.
