Unexpected often comes

Ebifulumiziddwa: 08.01.2024

After we've had a good night's sleep, we start the day with a short but mountainous jog and then give ourselves plenty of time to get ready. So it happens that we don't have breakfast until 12 p.m. After we had heard enough stories from Wolfgang from Cologne at the table next door and I couldn't concentrate on my Sudoku anymore, we set off. Last night we couldn't decide how we wanted to spend today and postponed it until now. However, we are still undecided and head into town first. The only thing I wanted to do was go to the surf shop there. The owner chats us up at the door and Maren starts talking to him inside while I'm still shopping. A good half hour later we have two surfboards, neos and a place to park for the night. Carg is a New Zealander and lives on a huge property with his 15 year old daughter. There are currently 2 TinyHouse containers, a bathroom container and a caravan. His plan is to build a surf camp here little by little. A few years ago he met a German Alex and he is now helping him. Unfortunately we don't get to know him because he is currently traveling with friends from Germany for a few days. Whenever he likes people in his surf shop, he invites them to his home. He gives a course the next morning and offers us to be there at the beginning to get to know the surf spot. In total we stayed with him for two nights and surfed two days in a row. The practical thing about the spot is that it's super easy to paddle out and we can try out and practice in the green waves. We spend our afternoon siesta in a café. While Maren enjoys the blazing sun, I first look for a spot in the shade and then even escape inside. Crazy enough, just sitting on the terrace of the café was incredibly hot. When we go out the door it is almost too cool again. On the second day we immediately noticed progress and even started the session with a party wave. Maren is going out of the water earlier today, I can't completely detach myself yet and stay in there for a while.
