From nine o'clock I enjoyed the varied breakfast buffet at the Savoy. Then I packed my things, was driven to reception with my suitcase and checked out on time before 11 a.m. I left my suitcase behind for safekeeping.
I hadn't booked a tour and was able to spend the day as I pleased until about 3:30 p.m.
First I looked at the Savoy Resort. Everything seemed freshly washed because it had rained heavily during the night. A well-kept area with lots of greenery.
Then I left the resort and walked along the road that ran along the beach. Google Maps had told me that I would find shops and restaurants there. In one of the shops I saw the shell of the rare "Coco de Mer" for the first time.
At some point I turned around. I got a drinking coconut from a fruit stand, sat down on the beach and enjoyed the fresh coconut milk.
Afterwards I was hungry and went to a quaint looking restaurant. There I had a cocktail and a Creole octopus curry, which tasted completely different from the octopus dish from the day before.
Full and satisfied, I returned to the beach. My happiness was perfected when I came across an apparently stray dog who was willing to let me pet him.
At some point the cuddling session was over and I continued on to the beach in front of the Savoy Resort. There I watched the waves until the sky darkened, the wind became unpleasantly strong and it started to rain.
I fled to the hotel reception, had my suitcase given to me and waited the rest of the time together with a traveling companion.
Finally, the expected tour bus arrived and took us to the airport. After checking in, the waiting continued until we were allowed to board the plane shortly after 7 p.m.
At around 10.45 p.m. we reached our destination: Nairobi, the capital of Kenya!
First we were received by employees of the Kenyan safari operator and then by the boss Paul Chege himself. After immigration control, the 31 participants were driven in two buses to the "Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel", where we tiredly moved into our luxurious rooms with a somewhat old-fashioned charm.
