18.11 The Chatuchak Market - Thailand's biggest market

Ebifulumiziddwa: 11.01.2018

Quote of the day:,, You pay NOW !!! '

The intention to make the most of the gained day due to the early return fails initially. The journey home, interesting as it was, has cost some energy after all.

So we get up relatively late and have muesli and croissant for breakfast. But after a pool session I am really awake and search the web for possible destinations for today. An absolute must-see according to countless Thailand fans is the Chatuchak Weekend Market.

This market proudly presents itself as the largest in Thailand. So the goal is clear. We leave the apartment at about 2 pm and take the BTS 8 stations to the end station Bang Wa.

Once there, it's just a stone's throw away and once you are in the hustle and bustle, you can already see the extent of this shopping paradise.

THERE ARE A WHOPPING 15,000 stalls here !!!

We make our way through the maze of streets and let ourselves be carried along. I notice that the Chatuchak market seems to be both a tourist attraction and the main artery of the local economy. Everything is sold and traded here, but especially textiles, cosmetics and jewelry. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is visited daily by nearly 200,000 - 300,000 people. The number only really becomes tangible when you are in the midst of it all. We continue to stroll around and have classic Thai food for lunch, where the conditions urge me to pay even though I haven't received my food yet ^^.

Afterwards, I set out to buy some things for my family back home. With so much choice, it's hard for me to decide, but after a while I have everything I need.

Satisfied, we leave this monster of a market and end the 3-hour tour.

Back in the apartment, we meet Best and Dirk, with whom we then have dinner in a good restaurant.

Tomorrow I will move into Best's old apartment and slowly but surely prepare for the upcoming internship at Bosch.
