Saying goodbye to Cusco is difficult. We use the last 2 days for hikes around Cusco. There are still many Inca ruins and ruins from the pre-Inca period here.
After one last meal overlooking the plaza, we take the night bus to Puno. The night bus is okay for small people, for tall people... well, not so much.
Puno is an ugly town on Lake Titicaca. Luckily, we are only here for 1 day/night. Being good tourists, we book a tour to the Uros Islands and the island of Amantani. The Uros used to live on floating islands made of reeds to escape the rule of the Incas. Today, they are considered extinct. Their descendants (desperately) try to maintain their way of life and customs. The result is a tourist spectacle - awful. The island of Amantani is about 1.5 hours by boat from Puno. It offers a beautiful hiking trail and a great view from the highest point. Since we also enjoy boating, the afternoon makes up for the morning.
Tomorrow, we will continue to the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca to Copacabana.
