Boating and swimming in El Rompido and surrounding areas

Ebifulumiziddwa: 07.04.2022

Our apartment was right on the bank of a river that flows into the sea a little further ahead. But ebb and flow could also be seen on the beach in front of our balcony, and at low tide, it was clear that you didn't really want to go into this water 😊 and there was also a lot of garbage on the sandy shore ☹

So we went a bit further to the beach on the Atlantic, surrounded by dunes. One time we took the ferry to the peninsula and walked along the kilometer-long beach there, Claudio collected seashells, Mami collected a bag full of trash.
And one time we drove "early" to Portugal and there we found - thanks to google maps - a great sandy beach between rocks. The boys built whole kingdoms with sand: Mauro's Roman one next to Claudio's - surrounded by a wall - Chinese one, and Sandro's Egyptian one. When the tide came in, they built protective walls non-stop, only to realize shortly after how much they were worth against the forces of nature. We even dared to go into the water, after initial trembling and jogging, it went quite well and the warm sun quickly dried us off! From home we received snow photos that day, we felt like it was midsummer! In the evening sun, the boys were still up for wandering/climbing from bay to bay through the rocks to the next village. There we had a little something to eat before driving home late - now we had to set the clocks forward to European time - and carrying sleeping boys to bed.
We spent an exciting day at the museum where the three replicas of Columbus' ships are exhibited. We learned a lot about the time of the explorers and immersed ourselves in the past.
