On the sculpture drive detour on the way to Coffin Bay, we read that at Tumby Bay jetty is a good spot to watch sea dragons directly from the jetty. So we decided instead of driving up straight to Port Augusta we have to stop at Tumby Bay looking for sea dragons. As it was a cold & rainy day again, Stuart wanted to visit the local Tumby Bay bakery first for some breakfast before heading to the jetty.
After breakfast we drove to the jetty and were really disappointed by what we saw: the jetty was broken due to the storm the last day and won´t be open for a couple of weeks, at least!
So no sea dragons to find... We tried to make the best with a short walk around Tumby Bay taking photos of the town and the silo art, but were still pretty disappointed.
So we drove on and found on a car park next to the highway the pink piano with a pink fridge used as an exchange bush library. Stuart thought this was quite a funny idea, but also practical to keep the books dry given the big puddle of muds at the car park.
We arrived in Port Augusta just minutes before check-in time started and were sent away. We came back after check-in time and were this time sent away because the cleaning people were not yet ready. Stuart was a bit annoyed why we went twice away but did not come back with a key but instead drove into town to get groceries for the next day. At least after this, we were able to get the keys for our accommodation and Stuart a pack of sweets including a banana-cream cookie.
