28.06. 'Les Ocres de Roussillon' - Ocher Rocks (full post by clicking on the image)

Ebifulumiziddwa: 29.06.2023

We are now on our way back home.

As a little stopover on the way to our second to last accommodation, we visited the ocher rocks in the village of Roussillon.

After logging a geocache on site, we took a short hike through the landscape.

The ocher rocks are the result of millions of years of geological deposits. Ochre, a natural pigment composed of iron oxide and clay minerals, gives the rocks their characteristic orange-red color. Over time, erosion has shaped the rocks, creating impressive formations that stretch over several square kilometers.

Many thanks to Andreas and Jutta for the tip, it was a great idea!

When we arrived at the accommodation in the evening, we had a little picnic by the lake and went to bed early, as we have a 6-hour drive to our final stop.
