Today, the children fell asleep again after their usual bedtime and slept until almost nine. Jette planned the day today: first have ice cream and then go on a trip. So after breakfast, we had ice cream at the campsite and set off for Sirmione around noon. After a drive of about 50 minutes, we arrived there. It's a very touristy place, as we could already see from the parking situation. We drove quite far up the peninsula and took the parking lot near the water castle. The water castle was very pretty. Later, we went to a small park with a playground. Jette was hardly to be separated again... at some point, we managed to do it, because we wanted to go further up the peninsula. At the Centro Thermale, a small train called "Il tzenino delle grotte" started to the Grotte di Catullo. The heat was bothering us quite a bit, so we took the train. Then we went to the Grotte di Catullo and looked at the remains/excavations of the old villa. Unfortunately, the paths were not suitable for strollers and the heat was unbearable, so we cut the visit short. Afterwards, we took the train back again. In the town, Jette remembered that we still owed her an ice cream. Near the water castle, there were numerous gelaterias with mountains of ice cream and dozens of different flavors... it's really overwhelming. And there were even samples to try... One scoop cost 3 € - a current top price - but the scoops were huge and delicious :-D On the way back, both children fell asleep and back at the mobile home, Henriette caused a fuss again... Tomorrow, we'll relax a bit at the pool :-)
