Trans-Canada Highway to Vancouver

Ebifulumiziddwa: 30.07.2019

The time in the national parks in western Canada is coming to an end and we are on our way back to Vancouver on the Trans-Canada Highway. The light drizzle turned into a rainy day again and we quickly arrived at the Illecillewaet Campsite. We visited the Roger Pass Discovery Center and learned a lot about the creation of the Trans-Canada Highway, and the kids received an explorer plaque again after successfully completing an explorer booklet. Unfortunately, the many glaciers in Glacier National Park remain hidden in the clouds.

The next day, we continue to Revelstock National Park. Here we discover the oldest cedars in the region via a small boardwalk. Then we quickly drive to the summit of Mt. Revelstocks. From 8:00 a.m., you can drive 25 km uphill along serpentine roads and enjoy a great view at the top. We drove through the clouds on our way there and found the sun just in time for our breakfast. If you get up early, you can also get a parking space, at least in the peak season.

To get all the way up, you can take a shuttle or walk a short distance. The view of the region is impressive, as is the variety of flowers. Some are familiar to us, others are not. We all like the Indian Paintbrush the most.
