Seußlitz-Torgau
After a restful night and a nice farewell from Frau Lemke, we set off for Torgau.
In Nünchritz, we had our first coffee and breakfast.
Strengthened and full of energy, we headed towards the pasta city of Riesa.
We made good progress on quiet forest paths and along the Elbe dykes, enjoying the wonderful sunny weather.
Just before Riesa, we spotted the first stork, which didn't seem to mind at all.
Since we were rolling very well, we continued happily, as we wanted to arrive in Torgau early and explore the castle and the city. Our journey took us through many picturesque small villages. In Mühlberg, we crossed the Elbe again and continued on the Saxon side.
At Lindenhof in Staritz, we fortified ourselves with a delicious lunch. We also recharged our batteries.
We continued around 1 PM. The last 20 km of the day lay ahead of us and we were very happy when we saw the spires of Torgau.
Unfortunately, the Elbe Cycle Path is not always well signposted and there are occasional construction sites, which can lead to some detours or sections on main roads, but you always find your way back to the right path.
We arrived in Torgau around 3 PM after cycling 63 km and took the first photos at a historic location in Torgau. We quickly found a very nice guesthouse, which luckily had a double room available.
After a rest break, we explored the beautiful old town with its historic buildings and the Hartenfels Castle with its bear enclosure.
Tomorrow we will cycle from Torgau to Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
