Departure and arrival in the states

Ebifulumiziddwa: 02.09.2021

Before our departure to the States, we are nervous. Have we thought of everything? Will it work with the antigen test, ESTA, and our luggage? So it's not surprising that we stand at the counter almost two and a half hours before departure. Finally, it's our turn and the gentleman wants to see our ESTA papers. Actually, these should become visible to him when scanning our passports. But apparently, they don't and he tells us to present them now. But we only have internet via wifi and it seems to be working poorly at the moment. In addition, we find out that the ESTA application does not work on the smartphone. The gentleman encourages us and says that many ESTAs have been canceled without reason recently, well done. After a nerve-wracking half an hour, we find an accessible computer at the other end of the airport. This way, we can now access our ESTA forms and take a photo of the screen. Back at the counter, he still needs an address where we will be staying in the States. Since we don't really know this (no reservation), we have to access the internet again. A nice man opens a hotspot for us and we find a hotel address on West Colfax, the street with the most car sales in Denver. Since we have heavy backpacks, I had the foresight to pay for an additional piece of luggage online, but it doesn't help us because we only have two and they are too heavy! So we pack the excess weight into one of the backpack covers, which were actually intended to protect the luggage. Finally, the gentleman, who admittedly has a lot of patience with us, is satisfied and after an hour, we get our boarding passes. A lunch at Panda Express gets us in the mood for the USA. Yes, I know it's Asian, but the Orange Chicken left a great impression on us from our last trip to America. Goodbye, Mexico!
