Gorgeous sunrise at 5:30 am followed by a breakfast in the sun. Departure at 8:00 am heading towards Mackay. The route starts with the well-known eucalyptus forests, some of which are burnt out, and many dried-up rivers (80% are dry). Occasionally we see herds of cattle grazing, but we haven't seen any sheep yet. However, there are several kangaroos, big and small, unfortunately dead by the roadside. The speed limit is usually 100 km/h, sometimes 110. It's hard to go faster with the camper. Driving on the left side of the road is going well, you get used to it quickly. Only every 50 – 70 km there is a town. Then the landscape gets greener and the sugarcane plantations begin. One after the other. The rivers fill up with water again and the towns increase. We drive through the sugar cane city of Mackay and stay overnight 10 km north in Bucasia, on the seaside again - fantastic. Birds everywhere, different species, right in front of our motorhome. - Beautiful. The campground also has a small pool.
The people are very nice and friendly everywhere, everything is relaxed and leisurely, even on the roads. Fits our vacation mood.
