On 17.05 we arrived in Khao Sok after a transfer-rich journey. During this journey, we drove through the beginnings of the rainforest, the nature is very beautiful but we also passed by quite poor-looking villages.
It is one of the most original in Thailand. In our accommodation, we could hear the sounds of the rainforest. We had a frog, a mouse, and other inhabitants included. As the name suggests, it rained a lot and quite heavily. Nevertheless, the temperatures were pleasant and we walked through the small village. We did an 'elephant track', which we regret. On the next day, we hiked 16km through the rainforest with a guide and were completely soaked afterwards. We passed some waterfalls and after the hike, we were pretty tired.
Fortunately, the leeches didn't like us so much and we were largely spared. Our guide showed us various insects, animals, and plants, unfortunately, we couldn't spot any monkeys.
After a few days, we drove to the nearby city of Khao Lak. The landscape on the way was very beautiful. There we stayed in a really nice hostel, near the police boat that had ended up there during the tsunami. Among other things, we visited the national park and the waterfall, a tsunami museum, and various delicious food markets. It often rained and stormed so much that the waves almost knocked us over on the beach. We were also surprised by some storms while riding the scooter...
