Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

We stayed in a small village called Tanah Rata and immediately felt very comfortable. The jump from 34 to 24 degrees was a bit abrupt but still a nice change and a taste of Germany. At first, it felt like the Alps because the architecture is heavily influenced by Europe. But after the third Indian meal of the day, that feeling goes away.

We ate super delicious food there. At the Indian restaurant, we had a dish served on a banana leaf, which made us feel really authentic. However, we didn't eat with our hands, we don't have that much skill. We also tried all the Indian breads on the menu (Thosai, Capati, Roti, Batura, etc.).

Now to the Highlands. The main activities here are hiking and drinking tea. On the first day, six of us did a short but beautiful hike up a mountain and through the tea plantations. After a chai tea, we hitchhiked back to the village. The next day was my birthday, which we started at 7 a.m. with a half-day tour. First, we went to a mossy forest, which, as the name suggests, is mainly made up of moss and is supposedly very rare to find in the world. Then we went to the famous BOH tea plantations for a scone and a black tea. The tour was very interesting because our guide had a lot of fun facts. Finally, we stopped by the Strawberry Farm and then went back to the hostel. In the evening, we all played Monopoly together. For me, it was the perfect birthday, in a cool place and I even got cake. The next two days, we were lazy and did some photo shooting in the plantations.

Next, we're going to Penang Island, Georgetown. And then, to end it all, we're going to two islands.

See you soon!

I apologize for the umlaut situation, but this entry is coming to you from the internet cafe.
