My beloved former roommate recommended us to go to Starfish Beach. Allegedly, all you have to do is stand on the roadside and wave down a bus that will take you for a few dollars. After 20 minutes and several attempts, we ended up in a taxi. The problem was that there were 8 of us on 5 seats. The driver himself easily weighed 140 kg, so Lina had to constantly duck on my lap and my knees were pressed against everything and everyone. The other people on the laps weren't sitting any better. Fantastic. After dropping off the other folks, we finally headed to the beach. At least that was the plan, both for us and the taxi driver. However, halfway there, we were slowed down by construction workers. The road is being manually repaved, no idea how long it will take. The driver ultimately had 30 minutes to show his best hits like Busta Rhymes tracks including videos on his taxi TV and also provide musical accompaniment. Eventually, we arrived at the beach with a slight delay. The plan worked out as always.
The beach is very beautiful, saw many fish and lots of starfish. Great.
The return trip should now work better, as the right bus must be waiting at the final stop! Or so we thought. After getting dressed, I quickly struck up a conversation with a boatman. He offered to take us straight home. Since our accommodation was famously built on the water, why not. We traveled home with a relaxed speed of about 20-30 km/h with 4 other passengers from Starfish Beach. Pretty cool. Lina was also happy not to have to ride 50 km on a bike today, climb a volcano, or do a 'short' 15 km hike.
In the evening, we cooked and planned for the next day. It will be more active again, let's see how we get going.
