Krabi

Weşandin: 14.06.2024

Hello, you sugar dolls!
Our next morning was relaxed. We took a taxi into the city center to have breakfast and then to the bus station. Breakfast was OK. Thai people always use a strange basil that tastes more like mint and makes the whole meal strange. Julia had ordered spaghetti with pesto, which was made with this same mint basil. She didn't enjoy her breakfast very much. Our highlight of the day, however, was our bus driver. He made a funny impression on us with his moustache, white undershirt, brown leather shoes plus matching belt and gold chains. His hairstyle did the rest, and if I hadn't known that this guy would be our bus driver for the next few hours, I would have assumed, as is cliché, that he was a drug dealer. Maybe he was, and he was now transporting us from Phuket to Krabi along with various drugs. Well... we'll probably never know. In Krabi we checked into our accommodation, which reminded me a bit of a parking garage. Several rooms had been built in a larger "hall" that could be closed off with sliding doors. At first we were skeptical about our rooms, but it turned out that the air conditioning was turned on at night and the beds were actually quite comfortable. Sometimes it got so cold that I had to put on a thick sweater and socks. I actually thought it was quite good to sleep in the cold again. The next day we explored Krabi a bit. The supposed center turned out to be a bit of a flop. Apart from a few small shops and cool-looking traffic lights, the center didn't have much to offer. Even the market was unspectacular and a little disappointing. As we found out the next day, there were much nicer places outside of Krabi that you could have enjoyed. So, if you ever want to go to Krabi, don't listen to the distance from the center on Booking.com. The center sucks. For the next day we had booked a boat tour through GetYourGuide. We were picked up by a taxi and driven to the pier, which was further out. On the way there we passed beautiful beaches that were full of people lounging in the sun or shopping in the shops opposite. A thousand times better than the supposed center where we were. When we arrived at the pier, we climbed onto a boat and realized that we were alone with the crew. The tour was actually designed for 8-12 people, but since it was low season, there were only four of us and we had the whole boat to ourselves. We felt like we were rich.Palm was our fabulous tour guide and also our photographer, who not only accompanied us the whole time, but also constantly took cute photos of us. We drove to several islands where we disembarked to take a closer look at the beaches. We discovered entire caves in which I found pretty gemstones and shells and snail shells that would make great earrings. However, we left most of the snail shells behind because they serve as homes for hermit crabs and they already have too little habitat. We had very tasty food on board, including the tastiest Pad Thai I've ever eaten. Afterwards we went snorkeling to Chicken Island, which was actually shaped like a chicken. Unfortunately the waves were so strong that we could hardly see anything and had to stop our snorkeling tour after a short time. After another island we enjoyed the sunset on the boat and to top it all off we saw the glowing plankton that Julia and I had already seen in Cambodia. But just like back then, the sight of these small, glowing creatures enchanted me and made me forget the deep black darkness of the ocean around me. Unlike the plankton in Cambodia, this one didn't glow white, but greenish, which made the experience even more magical. I could have spent hours among these magical creatures, but it was time to go home.Very satisfied and exhausted, we arrived at our accommodation and ended this fabulous day with a few beers and a few rounds of UNO (who would have thought). The next day our travel group Chaos continued on to Koh Lanta.More on that later...
Until recently! 🐑More
