Our stay in Adelaide was rather short...but there was also no time to unpack the suitcases. That's why this morning everything is going quite quickly and we arrive relaxed at Adelaide Airport. Via Brisbane we go to Christchurch, at least that's the plan. In Brisbane we have a 1.50h transit...but if we have to pick up the suitcases and check in again, it's going to be very hectic. But once again, we will not be disappointed by Qantas! The nice colleague from Check In even gets the OK from the supervisor and our luggage disappears towards Christchurch. We already get seats for both flights! And for the stretch from Brisbane to Christchurch, it even works with the Business Class! It promises to be a relaxed travel day! On to security and the gate....
A word (or maybe several) about security checks in Australia. What a difference, what a delight! If you are mainly used to security checks in Frankfurt, you don't know what's happening here....practically no queues, the staff is smiling, friendly and always ready for a joke! You could almost say we enjoy it...
On the way from Adelaide to Brisbane, our cabin colleagues show their best side again! They organize a 3-row for us and provide us with snacks, bubbles and additional water bottles. The 2 hours pass quickly😉.
In Brisbane, we have to switch from the Domestic to the International Terminal, there is a bus transfer, but outside the secure area. So, through security again...feels like 2 minutes. The electronic Passport Control is also unproblematic....but wait....the machine does not want to photograph the doll. So, quickly to the officer in person. A look at the passport and boarding pass, a "See you, mate"....that's it! On to Christchurch. Before take-off, quickly sipped a glass of champagne, after take-off a Campari O and of course a Chardonnay for dinner. The Cognac is so plentiful that the doll is subsequently taken out by sleep. I don't have time to sleep, I have to watch the Downton Abbey movie, I missed it in the cinema.
The immigration in Christchurch is rather unspectacular, actually we were prepared to demonstrate our outdoor shoes live (I even polished them last night!). However, they settle for scanning our suitcases.
We spend the night at the airport and the hotel is within walking distance. From the bed, we have a direct view of the apron. Unfortunately, our planned video evening has to be canceled because our VPN lets us down...so no streaming. But sleeping is not bad either, after all we have a lot to do tomorrow!
