Traffic Rules - What to Consider

Weşandin: 30.07.2018

In general, it is very easy to get around Mallorca by car. Even inexperienced drivers can quickly find their way.

Here are some speed limits to consider:

Within urban areas: 50km/h

Rural roads: 90km/h

Multilane expressways: 100km/h

Highways: 120km/h

Unlike in Germany, every driver must carry two warning triangles. In case of an accident, one must be placed 30 meters in front and behind the car. It is also mandatory to wear a reflective vest in the event of an accident. And finally, for those who enjoy partying - the blood alcohol content limit is 0.5 per mil :-)

When you are in Mallorca for the first time, you will certainly drive a bit more cautiously to get used to the car and the traffic conditions. The Mallorcans are very relaxed in the face of the masses of tourists, so your hesitant driving style will not be further noticed. And after the first few kilometers, you are already an integral part of the traffic :-)

TIP: Do not be surprised by the high number of roundabouts. Since traffic lights are rather rare outside of cities, the pragmatic Mallorcans opt for 'round intersections' instead.
