Trip to Nara

After a royal breakfast at the hotel, we visited the city of Nara - Japan's capital city until the 8th century. The city houses a park with several temple complexes and a very special pet - you can see which animal it is in the photos 😉 It should be mentioned that Livia was attacked by one of these wild animals and only narrowly escaped with minor injuries and in great fear for her life 😳😆

The main attraction in the park is the Todai-ji Temple. This temple, with a width of 57m, a depth of 50m, and a height of 49m, is the largest wooden building in the world. Inside the temple sits the largest Buddhist bronze statue in the world. The Buddha weighs 452 tons and, together with the pedestal, is 18m high. The sight of the hall alone is already overwhelming, but when you enter the interior, you are blown away even more by the huge statue.

Tomorrow our journey continues to Hiroshima. We leave the old imperial times behind and visit a somewhat dark part of Japan's history.
