Hi there 👋🏻😊

We're back with some amazing new experiences!

March 7th, 2018: On Wednesday, we reached the one-week mark, help, time flies so fast! We climbed out of our containers early in the morning to take a walk on the beach. We were amazed because suddenly a glacier became visible, which was still hidden behind heavy clouds the night before.

It was really beautiful. And so crazy that the mountains and the sea are so close to each other. After our beach walk, we went for breakfast with muesli, fresh fruit, bacon, and pancakes, which were included in our accommodation. It was delicious! 😋 Finally, at 10 am, we made our way to Franz Josef, the glacier situated slightly south on the West Coast and rising up to 2700 meters. It was an impressive scenery, and the weather was perfect. The little village at the foot of the mountain was super cute!

We took advantage of the day for a short three-hour hike to get closer to the glacier, cooked a delicious dinner together in the hostel, and watched a DVD in the TV room. It was such a relaxing day!

March 8th, 2018: We were looking forward to this day for a while. We were super excited because we had already booked a "Heli Hike" a few days ago. Since such an adventure strongly depends on the weather, we were hoping that the beautiful weather from the previous day would continue - and what can we say. We were soooo lucky! We woke up to a bright blue sky, and at 11 am, we walked to the office of our tour company to sign up. An hour later, it started:

Equipped with professional gear, we boarded a helicopter that would take us to the glacier, where we were allowed to climb around for two hours. It was in-SANE!!!

We had spikes on our shoes so that we wouldn't slip on the ice, and we were guided by a professional through the glacier. We drank ice-cold glacier water, climbed over rock crevices and small streams, and fought our way through slippery ice tunnels! 😄

We were sweating in the sun! 😄

We had so much fun and can't believe how lucky we are to experience such beautiful adventures. 😍⛰ We safely returned to the valley in the afternoon, feeling blissful!

We ended the evening at a restaurant with a mountain view. Ahh, so beautiful!

So I finally got a little taste of winter this year with snow and ice! 😊

Next, we'll continue to Wanaka, a small village right by a lake. Stay tuned for more in two days! 😊☀️ Take care! 👋🏻
