At 8:00 am we started with this vehicle towards Fraser Island. We didn't really know what to expect, as we had booked the trip with David in Cairns and he only told us that it is a good trip, do this☝🏼. After finding proper seat belts in the bus and quickly going off-road, we slowly realized what was awaiting us 🙈.
We had prepared for a nice long ride on the ferry, but this is what we found:
Well, the ride was only 10 minutes 🤷🏻♀️😅.
Once we arrived on Fraser Island and started driving in the sand, getting completely shaken up, we finally realized that we didn't book a coffee trip, but an adventure trip 🤘🏼.
After surviving the ride to Lake McKenzie without major injuries (slight to severe nausea for Jana and near "dislocations" in the 3rd vertebra for Julia), we could finally relax at the most beautiful lake ever 🧘🏻♀️. The lake is simply stunning 😍.
Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch while our guide explained what was next on the agenda: a hike through the rainforest. We weren't sure how a 2-kilometer hike through the rainforest with 160 stairs would be with flip flops and Birkenstock shoes... 🙄 Also, important details we didn't know beforehand, there are spiders 🕷️ and snakes 🐍 there, but after our guide said he hasn't lost anyone here, we had hope that we wouldn't be the first ones to get lost or attacked by animals in the rainforest.
And luckily, we joined the hike through the rainforest because it was so impressive and amazing to see the rainforest from the "inside". We definitely didn't regret the hike 👆🏼. And seriously, the entire trip was really worth seeing and worth it 😇.
On the way back to Fraser Island, we (or rather Julia, Jana had to sleep to prevent motion sickness from the shaking during the drive 😴) also saw a bush fire next to us.
Then we enjoyed the last 2 hours of sunshine at Rainbow Beach and afterwards we went for a proper "camper lifestyle" dinner 💁🏻♀️.
Hopefully, tomorrow we will continue to Noosa 🚎.
