To have something to do in rainy weather, we went to Monkeyland today. There home for monkeys that are no longer welcome elsewhere, such as zoos or private households. The monkeys all live together in a huge enclosure and can move freely. There are also about 20 turtles living here.
At night, the monkeys like to turn the turtles upside down, so the park staff have to go around in the morning to turn them back over.
The park is home to 11 different species of monkeys, of which we were able to see 6. But unfortunately, there is only one native species here. So the visit didn't have much to do with Africa, but it was still very interesting and educational.
