Kyoto - Soul healing

Weşandin: 17.05.2023

Sigh 😞

It's Friday, day 2 of my 'slump phase'. Or is it day 3 already? I can't quite figure it out. A phase that will last a little longer until I go to Tokyo. In the meantime, I have to heal my soul.
As much as solo travel may have its advantages, sooner or later the most obvious disadvantage comes into play. You travel alone. I know my friends are just a phone call and 7 hours time difference away. But it's not the same.
So it's time to get myself a lollipop for my inner child. One with all flavors, from fruity to salty to rich. I need a movie. I'm heading to the cinema.

Getting the ticket is easy, thanks to the Ticket Vending Machine. I love the vending machine culture here, with all its variations.

I've chosen 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' for today. Of course, with subtitles. The Japanese don't do things halfway when it comes to subtitles.

Without any distractions, I enjoy the show. It reminds me once again of the difference it makes whether I passively watch a series on TV while on my phone or fully immerse myself in a good movie. Then I still have the most beautiful experience. When I engage all my senses. Then it becomes sensuous. A beautiful form of meditation, when you can escape.

Just like with baseball and fireworks in Busan, this event cleanses my system and my eyes. Laughing, crying, cheering, everything goes. I needed that. It helps for the moment, even if only for a short while.

Back home, I lie down. Time is exhausting, the movie has drained me.
After 10 minutes, I hear a knock. Was it at my door? I get dressed, go to the door, and open it. There stood a young woman and her mother. She looks confused, and I mirror her expression. She shows me the Key Card envelope, which bears the number 402. Funny, so does mine. She apologizes and goes down to the lobby. Even though she was nice, I'm lucky I won't see her again. I still have a few days left.

Later, I go for a walk along the river. It's a little therapeutic. On the way home, I stand at a traffic light, waiting for green. Suddenly, a taxi stops in front of me and picks up a passenger. I'm always amazed by the taxis here. They look like they're from the 70s, but as soon as they stop, the door opens and closes automatically. 🤯
You also like to pay digitally with all kinds of payment methods and watch the TV program at the same time.
